Blackpool were back to winning ways on Saturday in the League, grinding out an impressive 2-0 win against Wimbledon, but with the games now coming thick and fast, a new challenge awaits in the form of Scunthorpe. Their inconsistency has cost them so far, as they currently sit in 15th, but they have the capability of assembling some sort of run at any given time. Having beaten the likes of Coventry and claimed a point at Barnsley, the Iron are far from a walk in the park for Blackpool, but three points are essential if Blackpool are true contenders this year.
Injuries and Suspensions - Blackpool are beginning to see the squad return to fitness, but Jimmy Ryan remains side-lined for the foreseeable future.
Former Seasider Matt Gilks is out injured for the Iron along with Rory Watson, who is also a goalkeeper.
Scunthorpe United FC - From 5th, to 15th, Scunthorpe have failed to even start up their engine this season. At times they have been brilliant, but at the same time they have slipped up on numerous occasions also, most notably when they were thumped 5-0 by Fleetwood.
The post Alexander era is yet to be alighted, but the sparks have certainly been there with the likes of Josh Morris and Lee Novak amongst their ranks, but the sheer number of loanees has left the squad struggling for a unanimity and these flashes of brilliance have failed to be enough.
Having lost their last three matches, Scunthorpe will be desperate to halt the tipping pendulum at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night and this should make for a good game. There have been, on average, 3.64 goals per game in Scunthorpe matches, presenting the way they like to play as an open passing style. Blackpool will need goals on Tuesday as Scunthorpe have scored 1.57 per game on average, but this will be made easier by the Iron having such a leaky defence. Blackpool, with two games in hand on the majority of League One, will hope to come up trumps tomorrow in a battle between two underperforming sides.
