What a strange week for this football club it has been, with Bowyer going just one game into the season, Blackpool have been plunged once more into a dreadfully precarious situation. The club is once more falling apart at the seams which again is born from the heart of the club, Owen Oyston. But football must go on and Blackpool face Portsmouth at Bloomfield Road this Saturday. Even though the majority of the Pool fans will be accumulating outside the stadium, a positive result on Saturday would be welcome as Blackpool need all the points they can get.

Kenny Jacket's Portsmouth visit Bloomfield Road after a good start to the season having beaten Luton at Fratton Park courtesy of a Jamal Lowe strike. They will be a tough test for Blackpool, especially with the current disarray of the club. Having kept hold of the bulk of their squad from last year they are aiming for a playoff spot after an 8th place finish last year and will be hoping to simply bypass a disjointed Blackpool team who struggled on the opening day. A 43% win percentage last year shows their influence and they will be hoping to improve this time around. Last season Blackpool managed to get 3 points out of 6 from Portsmouth as Blackpool beat them 0-2 at Fratton Park with Portsmouth returning the favour at Bloomfield Road beating the Seasiders 2-3.
In the transfer market Portsmouth saw 7 outgoings but this was paired with 6 incomings with MacGillvray, Brown, Walkes, Naylor, Wheeler and Curtis joining Pompey. Chaplin was also a player constantly linked in the transfer window, as he handed in a transfer request. He is now a player who doesn't actually want to be at the club, similarly to Curtis Tilt at Blackpool.
It will be a tough test for the Seasiders but one, that if they get through, will prove the squad has the mental resilience to survive in League One this year.
