Under-17 World Cup winner Nya Kirby has joined Blackpool until the end of the season on loan deal from Crystal Palace. The attacking minded midfielder is a hot prospect for the London club and will aid Blackpool in attack; a position Blackpool have struggled in thus far.
Having previously been on the books of Tottenham, Kirby will be playing professional football for the first time at Blackpool. Having played for England at various levels 38 times however, the 18 year old has certainly got the experience to prosper at this level. He showed nerve at the World Cup, scoring the decisive penalty against India in the last 16 and Kirby has played for Palace Under 23s 18 times and scored 4 goals and will hope to continue his success at Blackpool.
McPhillips expressed his excitement to the club website saying,
“Nya is a highly-rated young prospect who we are delighted to bring to the club. It’s a deal we’ve been working on for a couple of weeks now, having initially met the lad before we played AFC Wimbledon,”
“He’s an attacking midfielder who makes and scores goals, and he’s had great international experience with England at various youth levels, winning the Under-17 World Cup in 2017."
