Sheffield United's Ben Heneghan has joined Blackpool on a season long loan deal. The Manchester born defender, who favourably plays at centre back, has appeared 3 times for England C as an International. Last season he was loaned out to Scottish Premiership side Motherwell playing 8 times scoring once. He started his career at Everton Under 18 before joining Stoke Under 21 in 2012. He joined Sheffield United from Motherwell in August 2017. The 24 year old will probably prove to simply be a squad player next year as Bowyer tries to provide competition for places.
Bowyer later commented, “I’m delighted to bring Ben to the club and I’d like to thank Sheffield United, who previously paid a considerable transfer fee for him. Ben’s someone we’ve monitored the progress of and I know there’s been quite a few other clubs interested in signing him. His addition will bring more size and stature in both boxes.”
