Blackpool have signed centre forward Chris Long following his contract cancellation by neighbors Fleetwood. The pacy 23 year old has signed a deal spanning until the end of the season and will bolster an area in which Blackpool have struggled in this season.
Huyton born Long has already been at 7 clubs despite his relative youth, playing in League One 78 times and the Championship 30 times. His latest stint at Northampton whilst on loan yielded 9 goals in one of his more successful seasons. He has also spent time at Fleetwood, Everton, MK Dons, Bolton, Burnley and Brentford over the course of his career, but has never really established himself as a clinical and prolific goalscorer.
Speaking on his arrival, Terry McPhillips said to the club website,
“Chris is someone I know well from my days working with him at Everton and he has always had great potential. The boy just wants to play and score goals,”
“His arrival strengthens our options in the final third and knowing him personally, he will fit into our dressing room very well.”
Long becomes Blackpool's first signing of the January transfer window, but the fear remains that this could be a window of departures rather than those much needed arrivals.
