Central midfielder Callum Guy has joined Blackpool on loan from Derby with the understanding that it is to become permanent in January. The permanent deal will consist of an 18 month contract with the option of a further year at Bloomfield Road. The 21 year old spent last season on loan at Port Vale for the first proportion of the season, followed by a spell at Bradford. He therefore played 28 times in League One last season, providing him with plenty of experience at this level, and he assisted once. Whilst playing for Derby County Under 23's his stats make for much better reading. He played 65 times for the Rams at this level, scoring 11 times and assisting 5 times. The central midfielder can also play in a right midfield role and will provide good depth in a currently thin area, with Jimmy Ryan injured. The Nottingham born Derby youth product is a positive addition and one that Terry McPhillips clearly believes in. For now we will have to simply trust his judgement but the real test comes on his debut and only then will we see this youngster's true potential.
