Kelvin Mellor has today signed a two year deal at Bradford City following the end of his contract at Blackpool. For what has been a tough Summer for Blackpool fans already the loss of Mellor has yet worsened the defensive situation at Blackpool with Tilt more than likely to follow Mellor's steps by heading for the exit door too; most likely to Ipswich or even Rangers.
But what a couple of years it has been for Mellor by the seaside. The Crewe born right back was sound throughout his time at Blackpool, playing 89 times and scoring an astounding 14 goals. His aerial threat was a menace for opposition defences and pivotal for when Blackpool were on the back foot. The 27 year old, who's pace earnt him a chance to play as a winger last year, was a thorn in the League Two promotion side of two years ago and will be another gaping hole in an already disjointed squad.
It is sad to see another player go, but such is the way with football and such is the way with the Oyston regime..
