The enormity of this loss can not be put into words and for what is already a shambolic state of affairs, this really is a kick in the teeth; and a hard one at that. It is with awful regret that I have to report that Gary Bowyer has decided to resign from his position at Blackpool Football Club with immediate effect and who can blame him? With four of last seasons essential first team players heading for the exit door, him having to pay out of his own pocket for adequate training facilities and most importantly a board that gives absolutely no financial support and fans that are boycotting for this very same reason. I would just like to take this opportunity now to thank Bowyer for the last two years; what he has done at this football club is nothing short of miraculous. If that is the case though, what Blackpool need now is a messiah.

“It has been a pleasure to manage Blackpool Football Club over the past two years and there are many people I wish to express my thanks to."
“Firstly, all the staff at the club who continue to go above and beyond to support the team. The players, whose efforts and commitment have played a massive part in achieving promotion in the 2016/17 season and gaining a top half finish in League 1 last season. To my football staff, your support loyalty and incredible work ethic has been fantastic, your willingness to go that extra mile for the good of the club will never be forgotten."
“I’m extremely grateful to the Board for giving me the opportunity to manage such an historic football club and finally, I would like to thank the supporters, your unbelievable passion and support of both the team and myself will stay with me forever."
“I wish Blackpool Football Club all the best for this coming season and every success in the future.”
Here's To You Gary Bowyer
The Manchester born 47 year old spent two years at Blackpool, in that time achieving promotion from League 2 and then stabilising the ship and leading Pool to a top half finish last term. He did all this within a limited budget and much scrutiny which is why it is such a big loss for this football club. He brought in the likes of Kyle Vassell, Jay Spearing and Kelvin Mellor, so to see many of his own players go, it must have been very hard to take. Who else would be able to do such a good job? Certainly no-one who is employed by Owen Oyston that's for sure. His 115 matches and 796 days at the seaside have all, individually, been so great and who was to know? He was never a popular choice at Blackpool, but he has just kept his head down and got the job done; but now that very same job has finally caught up with him. Winning 45 matches out of the 115 and having a points average of 1.47, his record is the best since Ian Holloway and that, having had next to no support, is something he really can be proud of.
For Bowyer, who knows what the future holds, but his time at Blackpool will surely help him in the future whether it be with football or indeed away from it.
