Football finally returns to Bloomfield Road this weekend with the visit of the Bantams, a side who sit in 17th position having recently taken the axe to their manager. Michael Collins, who was the youngest manager in the EFL at 32, became the 4th manager to see the exit door in 2018 for Bradford. So, Bradford face the challenge of a rejuvenated side that are going to be desperately trying to impress their new manager David Hopkin that will be hoping to put things right by the seaside.
Bradford City FC
Bradford have lost 4 out of their last 5 and have just 6 points overall in the League this year. After an underwhelming season last year many players jumped ship with many of them being essential first teamers. The likes of McMahon, Wyke and Law all left for pastures new, so Bradford had the tough task of replenishment and to give this task to an inexperienced 32 year old manager was very poor judgement from the Bradford board.
They have, however, still got some good talent that they have recently brought in. For example Kelvin Mellor, who switched to the Bantams from Blackpool and former Cod David Ball who joined on loan from Rotherham. What one also has to remember with this Bradford squad is that it is still relatively young also, with the average age being just under 24, showing there is growth in the team yet.
Bradford still pack a punch but not as much as they did last year, and even last year was a let down for the Bantams. You can never underestimate the fire power of David Ball, but the Bantams will have to really battle away this year in order to maintain their league status.
